Fearne Cotton has presented a dazzling range of major TV and radio programmes.

Now, she appears on Who Do You Think You Are?, tracing her great grandfather’s life during the First World War.

Here’s five things you might not know about the star…

1. Teen queen

Fearne first appeared onscreen at the age of 15, after winning a competition to present early morning GMTV children’s programme The Disney Club.

2. Radio groundbreaker

In 2007 Fearne began presenting BBC Radio 1’s Chart Show with her friend Reggie Yates, becoming the first permanent female presenter of a BBC radio chart show. She has also appeared on a range of TV programmes, presenting events including Comic Relief, Children in Need, the BAFTAs and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

3. Charity champion

In 2009 Fearne was part of a group of celebrities who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief, making it to the top despite suffering from severe altitude sickness. Other charity work includes walking the Inca Trail for Breast Cancer Care, curating the music festival FESTIFEEL for breast cancer charity CoppaFeel!, and acting as an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust and Mind.

4. Tattoo addict

Fearne has described herself as a “tattoo addict”, saying she has more than 11.

5. Star chef

Fearne is also a keen cook. She published her first recipe book, Cook Happy, Cook Healthy, last year, with a second coming out in October.
