Records in Manitoba

This guide was last updated in 2012

Manitoba acquired these records in 1994 and their holdings are described in detail here. The collection is divided into different types of holdings:

Textual records
The Company has amassed a vast collection of records throughout its long history and more than 3000 linear metres of records are held including minute books.

Special Media Records
These include photographs, documentary art, maps, charts and other architectural drawings created by the Company during its history. Additionally, you may be able to find some moving images and sound recordings depending on which era you are researching.

The Hudson’ s Bay Company Archives Library
The Library contains many secondary sources relating to the Company such as books, articles and CD-ROMs. It also has a wealth of information for a more general history of the area.
